The FRACTAI Journal of Intelligent Systems (FRACT-JoIS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by FRACTAI on the theory and applications of AI-based systems.

The journal is published quarterly, and we waive 50% of the publishing fee for FRACTAI Members.

Publication opportunities for students and early-career researchers (ECRs):

JoIS dedicates a section in each issue to publish short papers (as technical notes, case studies, and reproducibility studies on published works) authored by students and early-career researchers (ECRs) to enhance wider collaboration.

To encourage contributions in this direction, JoIS declares the following awards which include vouchers to publish the next paper free-of-charge for the first author and 50% reduced charge for other authors:

· Best Student Paper Award

· Best ECR Paper Award

The selection criterion for Best Paper Awards is based on the peer-review score (out of 100). Winning papers with equal scores will share the award.

Scope:

FRACT-JoIS publishes original research papers, review articles, technical notes, and brief reports that focus on (but are not limited to) the following topics:

Instructions for Authors:

Authors should format their manuscript according to the Journal Template (MS-WORD or Latex).
The submitted manuscript should not be under consideration at another journal during the evaluation period.
The Authors are encouraged to submit data and simulation codes that are related to their submitted manuscript. Also, at least one of the Authors should have an ORCID link or a similar professional link.
Manuscripts should be submitted via email: JoIS@fractalai.org.uk, along with a similarity report from a professional institute (e.g., Turnitin).
Article Processing Charge (after acceptance): 100 GBP (50 GBP for FRACTAI Members).

FRACT-JoIS Publication Ethics & Polices:

Authorship and Citation: Authors should have contributed significantly to the scientific investigation, analysis, and writing of the submitted manuscript, while minor contributions should be listed in the Acknowledgements section. Citation should be responsible, highly relevant, and unbiased, with focus on reputable and accessible References, while unjustified self-citation should be avoided to maintain scientific integrity. Manipulation of authorship and citation to artificially inflate some scholarly metrics is a serious ethical infringement.
Plagiarism, Self-Plagiarism, and Data Fabrication: Authors must not use the words or ideas from other works (including their own published works) without proper citation, and restrict their wording similarity with existing literature to a maximum of 15%. Figures and Tables from other works should not be included without permission of the copyright holder. FRACTAI Journal of Intelligent Systems (FRACT-JoIS) takes allegations of scientific infringement, plagiarism, fraud, and ethical disputes very seriously.
Generative AI Policy: While AI-assisted tools can be helpful in data analysis, the journal does not permit the use of AI-generated text, figures, or images in the submitted manuscript unless this process is declared by the Authors as part of the proposed work, along with a reference to the AI-generation tool used in that work. On the other hand, the use of AI-tools is not permitted in the journal peer-review or editorial processes.
Post-Publication: The journal accepts corrections or comments on published papers. Published papers with confirmed issues of plagiarism or other scientific misconduct will be declared as “Retracted”.
Copyright: The authors retain the copyright of their article and grant FRACT-JoIS a license to publish it.
